JUNEAU - A search around Baranof Island on Tuesday failed to find a missing Sitka man.

Searching continued Tuesday for 41-year-old Chuck Thompson, who was due back Sunday from a stay at a U.S. Forest Service cabin.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Jeremy Gaul said the agency flew search flights Tuesday and made plans to put a ground team on Yamani Island.

Thompson's 16-foot-skiff was found Sunday night on rocks near Yamani Islet about 16 miles south of Sitka. The boat's engine key was in the "on" position.

Searchers fear Thompson fell overboard.

The employee of Harris Air was on a beach combing expedition at a cabin at Seven Fathoms Bay.

Thompson had been in daily radio contact as company planes flew over the area.
