New prison to be called Goose Creek

ANCHORAGE - The Matanuska-Susitna Borough said recently the new $250 million prison being built at Point MacKenzie will be called Goose Creek Correctional Center after a nearby waterway.

Borough spokeswomen Patty Sullivan said a citizens advisory committee suggested the name and the Alaska Department of Corrections approved.

Goose Creek is a tributary to Knik Arm.
