• Juneau vs. North Pole football games - Junior varsity plays at 4 p.m. Varsity plays at 7 p.m. at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. Early bird special is $5 for both games if tickets purchased by halftime. Varsity games are $8. Info:

• Pam Dreyer goalie clinic - The Juneau Douglas Ice Association will sponsor a goalie clinic taught by Pam Dreyer on Sept. 12-14. The event is open to registered JDIA youth program and the Juneau Adult Hockey Association. $25 for all four sessions (refunded to JDIA if player attends all 4). Info:

• Juneau Jumpers pre-tryout practices - From 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 21 and 28 at Glacier Valley Elementary School. • Back To School Doubles Tournament fundraiser - The Juneau-Douglas High School tennis team is holding its annual fundraiser tourney, starting at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and continuing until champion games on Sept. 21 at JRC The Alaska Club. Spectators welcome. Lunch will be provided to tournament players on Sept. 20.

Several events to participate in include junior beginner, intermediate and advanced, high school tennis player/adult, women's, men's and mixed tier I, II, and III. First event is $25. Two or three events are an additional $10. ($35 maximum for each participant). Tournament registration deadline is Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. This tournament is open to both JRC members and nonmembers. • JDHS turf field available - The turf field by Juneau-Douglas High School is available for community use. The charge for reserving the field is $5 per hour for nonprofit youth groups, $10 per hour for nonprofit adult groups and $15 per hour for all other groups. • Juneau Skating Club - The Juneau Skating Club's first session of the year begins Sept. 19. Classes meet once a week for six weeks. Group lessons meet either Friday nights 6:30-7:30 p.m. or Saturday mornings 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Hockey skills classes start Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m. Registration forms and other information are available at or at the rink. • Treadwell Ice Arena open - Treadwell Ice Arena is open for the 2008-09 skating season. There are sign-ups for Group Skating lessons with the Juneau Skating Club. Six-weeks for $75. • Ultimate Frisbee Players of Southeast Alaska - The Ultimate Frisbee Players of Southeast Alaska will hold league play will take place 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Field. • Basketball and volleyball court rentals available - Juneau Community Schools has basketball and volleyball court rental times available 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. The cost to rent the court is $20 per hour, which must be paid at the time of rental. This is for adult activities only. Info: 463-1717.

• Dzantik'i Heeni open gym - Community Schools in cooperation with the PEP grant is sponsoring open gyms at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School on Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for youth in grades 6-12. There is no charge and youth are encouraged to bring a basketball or volleyball. Info: Community Schools, 523-1774.

• Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19 and older. • Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Rec Hikes Hotline. Bring plenty of food and water, and wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Info: Hotline, 586-0428.

• Mount Jumbo Gym rentals - Beginning Aug. 18, Parks and Recreation will accept reservations for rentals of the Mount Jumbo Gym. The gym will be open for rental from Sept. 2 to Dec. 30. Rentals can be made noon-1 p.m. and 6-10 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays and noon-10 p.m. Sundays. Cost is $30 per hour. Terry Miller gym also is available for rent. Info: 586-5226.

• Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee.
