Name: Shane Robinson

Title and Firm: Co-owner, Poseidon.

Services: Poseidon is a snowboard, skateboard and wakeboard shop. It carries many different brand names, including top-of-the-line manufacturers such as Burton and Salomon, and a wide variety of boots, bindings and related boarding accessories. The shop also carries clothing and shoes and is a Red Bull drink distributor.

Biographical information: Shane Robinson, 28, grew up an avid skier in Juneau and began snowboarding in 1990. He and local heli-tour guide Bruce Griggs, owner of Out of Bounds Adventures, comprised part of a snowboarding group that was the first to descend area mountains, including many in the Chilkat Range. Some of the trips were filmed and used in movies.

"I was going out (snowboarding) every day. It was my life. I was real crazy and Bruce wanted to show the talent level around here," Robinson said. "He came to me and said, 'You need to be a part of it.'"

The craziness took its toll, however. Robinson broke his collarbone, his wrist and, on three separate occasions, his legs. He suffered a major injury when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and lived constantly with sprains, scrapes and bruises. Furthermore, a major car accident left him with spleen damage and short one kidney. He opted for a safer lifestyle, opening Poseidon on Oct. 27, 1999, though he still hits the Eaglecrest Ski Area virtually every morning in the winter before starting work.

Family: Single. His mother, former state Rep. Caren Robinson, and father, David Rogers, program manager for the state Department of Environmental Conservation's air and water monitoring, are co-owners of Poseidon.

Noteable: Curiously, Robinson said despite his "seriously reasonable (business) deals," his association with Red Bull Energy Drink has helped him the most in his first year of operation. "I've gotten really lucky. Without Red Bull I wouldn't be where I am right now." He said he can't keep enough of the drink in stock.

Quotable: "A lot of people still consider me a bit of a hellion, but this business is filled with people who are crazy."

Employees: Four.
