Juneau resident Raymond Francis Gliniecki died Sept. 5, 2002, in Juneau.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1930, in Worchester, Mass. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1972 after a 21-year career. He also worked for the Alaska Marine Highway. He was the owner/operator of The Francois Poker Palace and served many Alaskans over the years. He was a member of the Eagles, F.B.O.E 4200, Moose Lodge No. 700, and Elks Lodge 420.
His family wrote he "will be remembered for his generous big heart, caring and sympathetic nature and his quick wit and great sense of humor."
He is survived by his wife Lorraine Gliniecki of Juneau; daughter Deborah (Keith) Wertheimer of Juneau; son Alfred Gliniecki of Pensacola, Fla.; granddaughters Amber (Joe) McConnell of Anchorage; and Tiana (Val) Escalante of Juneau; great-grandchildren Skyler, Taylee and Lorraine; sister Ellie Gliniecki; and brother William Gliniecki, both of Dudley, Mass.
A family service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 9055 Atlin Dr. A celebration of his life will follow from 4-8 p.m. at the Sand Bar lounge.
