Juneau resident Evelyn Veronica Scott died Sept. 10, 2007, at her home.

She was born June 11, 1924, in Chicago. She lived there until she joined Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Services and served in San Diego.
In 1956, she and a friend moved to Juneau, where she resided ever since. During the first several years of her residency she was a secretary for the assistant commissioner of Alaska.
"Evelyn was the most loving, compassionate, kind wife, mother and grandmother," her husband said. "She will be deeply missed."
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Ann; and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Scott; daughters, Roberta Scott and Jody Hollenbeck; son-in-law, Scott Hollenbeck, of Missoula, Mont.; sisters, Fran Armitage, of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Mary Armitage, of Waukegan, Ill.; grandchildren, Kris Ann and Robb Hollenbeck; and son-in-law, Corey Hawkins.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary.
