Red Cross, city to sponsor water safety instructor course

JUNEAU - Red Cross and the city of Juneau are sponsoring a Water Safety Instructor course Sept. 30-Oct. 25 at the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool. A mandatory pre-course session will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the pool. Bring a suit and be prepared to take a swimming test.

Participants must be 16 years of age before the end of the course, pass a pre-course skills test and possess a currenty Fundamentals of Instructor Training certification. (FIT will be offered on a mutually agreeable date after the WSI course starts for the cost of $12.)

Registration is $78.75 to CBJ and $57.95 payable to Red Cross. Class dates and times are as follows: 5:45-8:45 p.m. on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21 and 23; and 9 a.m.-noon on Oct. 11 and 25. For more information, contact the pool at 586-5325.
