Fairbanks woman escaped Trade Center

Posted: Thursday, September 13, 2001

FAIRBANKS A woman who grew up in Fairbanks was one of the survivors who made it out of the World Trade Center complex alive Tuesday.

"It's been really hard to watch the lines of people with pictures waiting at hospitals for their loved ones," Lisa Thomas, 24, told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. She planned to volunteer to help the rescue effort until her employer, Merrill Lynch, sets up a new office.

Thomas fled her 27th-floor office in the world financial center, connected with sky bridges to the World Trade Center. She was on her second day of work at Merrill Lynch.
