...for the help.
The Juneau Community Garden Association recently held the 10th Annual Harvest Fair at the Community Garden on Montana Creek Road. Open to the entire community, it is a full day of activities including exhibits of vegetables, flowers and fruit, guided tours of the garden, food sales, and a variety of activities designed for children.
The Juneau Community Garden operates under the guidance of the City and Borough of Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation. The garden has become a community-wide park used to promote outdoor recreation, agricultural experimentation, plant research, and educational growth and development of local gardeners.
The Harvest Fair is possible only through the generous donations from local businesses. Don Abel, Fred Meyer, Western Auto and Marine, Auke Bay Gardens, Glacier Gardens/Yard Doctor Landscapes, Super Bear Supermarket, and Coca Cola Bottling Company of Juneau contributed to the Garden. In addition, local gardeners Robert Tonkin, Marion Simpson, Molly Hodges, Peggy Pijan, Connie Davis, Martin Grennan, Mary Job Hobbs, Connie Munro, Larry Buzzell, Vivian Meyer, and Pat Harris helped out by judging the exhibits entered. The Harvest Fair was also dependent on many hours of volunteer time put in by Sue Arnold, Susanne and Sandy Williams, Bonnie Herbold, Marcia Miller, and Alan Davis. The help of the membership of the Juneau Community Garden Association on Saturday, Aug. 31, to make the event happen also needs to be recognized.
Thanks to all of you for making the 10th Annual Harvest Fair a tremendous success.

...for the generosity.
The Harborview Elementary Open House was an evening of incredible people, desserts and potluck dishes!
Congratulations everyone! Our silent auction raised $1,061 for "art" in Harborview. A special thanks to Heritage Coffee and McDonald's for their generous donations.
