Cowboys nip the Seahawks in Cub Division

Strong second quarter lifts Warriors past Hawkeyes in Junior Division

In a back-and-forth affair, the Cowboys held on to nip the Seahawks 19-16 in Juneau Youth Football League Cub Division action last weekend.

Sound off on the important issues at

Kris Hill rushed for touchdowns of 36, 55 and 47 yards in the win.

The Seahawks' Moa Maka hauled in a 46-yard TD pass from Tanner Petrie late in the fourth quarter to keep the game close.

Petrie added a 36-yard TD run and a one-point conversion for the Seahawks.

Hill added a one-point run in the win.

CUB DIVISION

Wildcats 19, Titans 14

The Wildcats withstood a second-half rally by the Titans to hold on for a five-point victory.

Demetrius Campos had TD runs of 47 and 60 yards and Quentin King added an 82-yard scoring scamper for the Wildcats. Kaelin Dietrick contributed a one-point conversion in the victory.

The Titans scored TDs in the third and fourth quarters to nearly pull off the victory.

Dorian Isaak rushed for a score and completed a 9-yard TD pass to Adam Empson in the win. Empson also caught a two-point conversion pass from Isaak and Jacob Hamilton added a one-point run for the Titans.

JUNIOR DIVISION

Warriors 12, Hawkeyes 6

The Warriors used a big second quarter to upend the Hawkeyes.

Down 6-0 after the first quarter, Martin Conchas-Michel rumbled 30 yards for a TD and Phillip Fenumiai caught a 6-yard TD pass from Tony Yadao for the Warriors.

Brenyn Marshall took the game's opening kickoff 76 yards for Hawkeyes' lone score.

Tigers 48, Sitka Storm 0

Alex Erickson scored five touchdowns as the visiting Tigers traveled to Sitka and defeated the Storm.

Erickson had three rushing scores, a 68-yard punt return for a TD and snagged an 18-yard scoring pass from Camden Thomas.

John Jolly had a 5-yard TD run and rushed for a pair of two-point conversions in the win. Wepi Maka added a rushing TD and a two-point run for the Tigers.

SENIOR DIVISION

Red Raiders 18, Hurricanes 6

Eric Moy broke a 6-6 game with two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter, lifting the Red Raiders to their first win of the year.

Moy had rushing TDs of 25 and 23 yards in the win.

Ben Hotch put the Red Raiders ahead 6-0 in the first quarter with a 40-yard TD run.

Eric Fagerstrom's 9-yard TD plunge knotted the score at 6-6 in the second quarter.

Cougars 32, Sitka Storm 0

Leka Maka received two touchdown passes from two different quarterbacks as the Cougars knocked off the Sitka Storm.

Chris Hoffman hit Maka on a 27-yard pass in the second quarter and later hauled in a 5-yard TD pass from Chris Holloway in the fourth quarter.

Matthew Maka had a 15-yard TD run, Christian Parker rushed for a score from 8-yard away and Tony Tompkins returned a interception 30 yards for a score.

Parker added a two-point conversion in the Cougars' shutout victory.
