Pest control company opens Juneau office

JUNEAU - American Pest Management is opening its newest Alaska office in Juneau. The office will be managed by Alex Musser and will serve customers in the Juneau, Douglas and Haines areas.
Musser is a state-certified and licensed pest control technician and a long-time Juneau resident.
American Pest Management provides services throughout the state of Alaska, with service centers in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Barrow, Dutch Harbor, Kenai Peninsula, Kodiak and now Juneau.
APM has agents that specialize in commercial and residential pest control, bird control, schools, oil and fish camps, military bases, air, and seagoing vessels. The company also provides food safety inspections.
Small business center to be set up in Angoon
ANGOON - The Business and Economic Development Department of the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska has secured a federal grant to establish the Small Business Development Center in Angoon for 2007-08.
The center is being set up in partnership with Kootznoowoo Inc., Angoon's Native village corporation; Angoon Tribal Council; and the Angoon City Council.
The project will provide technical assistance and e-commerce education to local entrepreneurs. It will furnish individual counseling to small businesses and potential business owners in areas such as pre-business planning, developing business plans and credit practices.
The project also will create a computer classroom with high-speed Internet connection and distance-learning capability. It also will be possible to broadcast some classes to Angoon in partnership with the Vocational Training and Resource Center in Juneau, which is a Central Council subsidiary.
Local residents will be able to use the classroom to sell their arts and services online; nonprofit and community organizations from Juneau will be able to broadcast Web-based seminars and other events to Angoon.
