Memorial changed, other events canceled

JUNEAU President Bush's call for a national day of remembrance today shifted the time and day of a Juneau ceremony from Saturday to today.

Juneau's event was originally scheduled for Saturday morning at Centennial Hall. On Thursday afternoon, it was rescheduled for noon today. The nondenominational service was one of several in Alaska and thousands nationwide today.

The hall will be open until 4 p.m. for quiet contemplation and for those who want to write or draw messages of support to the people of New York and Washington, D.C.

Other events have changed time or been canceled following Tuesday's attacks.

The Randy Wanamaker Meet the Candidate Night planned tonight at Capital Chevrolet has been postponed. It will be rescheduled next week.

Don and Dee Burda's clowning workshops tonight, Saturday and Sunday were postponed because they could not get flights into Juneau. A Saturday night performance also was canceled. The Burdas have rescheduled for April.
