Helmick, a member of Elmendorf's 3rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, was seriously injured Aug. 29, when a roadside bomb blew up near his convoy near Mosul, Iraq. Helmick is in stable condition. He was transported to the Elmendorf Air Force Base hospital for further treatment.
