J.J. Johnson picks some pretty-ripe Braeburn apples last week off her backyard tree in Switzer Creek. Shortly before, a bear had jumped over her fence and commenced to enjoy the fruits of her labor. But then the bear left abruptly, at the prompting of Shorty, lower right, and J.J. decided it was best not to encourage the bruin to return.
