We must defeat hatred in our communities, both local and global. For those of you who think the recent horrific defamation of the local Jewish synagogue doesn't affect your own life, I offer the following quote from the Rev. Martin Niemoller. He was a Lutheran pastor who spoke against the Holocaust during World War II, for which the Nazis executed him.
