JUNEAU - Juneau police said they found a wanted sex offender Thursday who had violated his parole.

Police said they received a tip that John Chester White, 35, was in West Juneau on Thursday evening. After a search, police said they found him hiding inside a closet of a house.

White was convicted twice, in 1991 and 1999, for attempted sexual assault. Besides violating his parole, police said he also failed to register as a sex offender.

Both White and Alexey Stepetin, a convicted sex offender who police said also violated the conditions of his parole, were apprehended after Juneau police and the Alaska State Troopers asked the public to help locate the men.
