FAIRBANKS - Several people were injured in a brawl Friday night at a high school football game in Fairbanks.

Police said multiple fights broke out Friday night inside the stadium during the Lathrop-West Valley game. Fairbanks police insisted that Lathrop cancel the game, its homecoming.

A larger fight then broke out on the street.

Sgt. Jeromy Lindhag said several police officers were assaulted when they approached the crowd.

Officer Jim Gibson said police used pepper spray and "fisticuffs, toe-to-toe."

Gibson said at least three people were taken into custody.
