FAIRBANKS - The Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly voted recently to oppose the city of Fairbanks' planned expansion.
Assembly member Guy Sattley said the city is trying to cherry-pick properties generating high tax revenue, such as the Fred Meyer grocery store. Sattley proposed the resolution that passed Thursday on a 7-2 vote.
City officials said the annexation would smooth out uneven boundaries on the western edge of Fairbanks.
The city will hold a Sept. 22 public meeting on the plan.
