Devon Kibby claimed titles in boys singles and boys doubles during the Juneau Junior Singles Championships Saturday and Sunday at the Mendenhall Valley location of JRC-The Alaska Club.
The tournament was the first event sponsored by the new Juneau-Douglas High School tennis team.
Kibby beat Spencer Miller 8-4 to win the boys singles championship match on Sunday (singles matches featured one pro set to eight points). He then teamed up with Nathan Woodring to claim the boys doubles title with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over the duo of Miller and Bryan Crowder.
Elizabeth Stickel won the girls singles title with an 8-1 victory over Ramona Alex. Zak Kirkpatrick beat Gerry Carrillo 8-5 to win the championship in the mixed (coed) singles division.
In the consolation finals, Woodring beat Laura Knapp 8-0 in mixed singles, Knapp beat Ciara Jensen 6-2 in girls singles, while the duo of Ben Robinson and Kaelen Knutson-Lombardo beat Carrillo and Jaunito Señarillos 6-2, 6-4 in boys doubles.
Carrillo is slated to play the winner of a match between Robinson and Becky Clover for the boys singles consolation title later this week.
