SITKA - Denny Pearson will take on incumbent state Rep. Peggy Wilson in November after winning a close race for the Democratic nomination.
Rob Allen had a 12-vote advantage over Pearson in the initial election-night count after the primary. But that slim margin evaporated when absentee and questioned ballots were counted. At that point, Pearson held a six-vote lead.
A final batch of ballots were counted Wednesday and Pearson's margin widened to a dozen votes.
On Friday, Allen told the Sitka Sentinel he was conceding. Allen could have asked for a recount, but he said he wanted to allow Pearson to get on with his campaign.
Wilson was unopposed for the Republican nomination.
