JUNEAU - Laura Else, owner of the commercial boarding facility Pet Nanny's Place in Juneau, has been elected to the American Boarding Kennels Association's board of directors.
Else will represent Region 10 on the board, which includes Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
The ABKA is a nonprofit trade association representing pet care professionals and kennel operators. The association's president, Sherry Linning, visited Else at Pet Nanny's Place in August.
New vice president at Alaska Pacific Bank
JUNEAU - Christopher Bourque joined Alaska Pacific Bank as a vice-president and retail operations manager in August.
Formerly a senior vice president at Mt. McKinley Savings Bank in Fairbanks, Bourque brings almost 30 years of banking experience to the Alaska Pacific management team.
Bourque graduated from the College St. Anne in Nova Scotia, Canada. He also graduated from the Bank Administration Institute's School for Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin.
Rainbow grand opening
JUNEAU - Rainbow Foods, a natural food store in downtown Juneau, will celebrate its grand opening in its new location on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19 and 20.
The store's new location at the corner of Fourth and Franklin streets provides 60 percent more floor space than the former location, at Second and Seward streets. It also features on-site parking.
Sales at the store have increased since the early-August move, said the store's owner, David Ottoson.
The grand opening celebration will feature live entertainment, food sampling, door prizes and special promotions.
