J. Marc Mulkey wrote that he was curious to find out why certain representatives wouldn't vote for a house resolution extending sympathies to 9/11 victims. As is almost always true these days, there was more to that piece of legislation than a simple apology. Certain members of the House chose to politicize the issue and use language asserting a connection between 9/11 and Iraq. This assertion has quite thoroughly been debunked over last three years, most recently by the 9/11 commission.
As sad as it is, this apology wasn't just an apology.
