ANCHORAGE - A 41-year-old Salcha woman run over by a sport utility vehicle as she was exiting managed to call 911 but later died of her injuries.
Alaska State Troopers say Rachel Carlston died early Tuesday of injuries she suffered in the driveway of her home in the Richardson Highway community 33 miles southeast of Fairbanks.
Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says the driver of the SUV, 46-year-old Nina Batey, has been charged with manslaughter and felony driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Troopers said Batey has twice been convicted of DUI within the last 10 years, making a third offense a felony.
Peters says Carlston appeared to have suffered injuries to her head and torso.
