Gary Sinise band to play 3 Alaska shows

ANCHORAGE - The Air Force says members of the military in Alaska will have the chance to attend a concert by a performer more known for his acting than his music.

Actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will perform three free, private USO concerts for troops and their families as part of a USO tour sponsored by TriWest Healthcare Alliance.

Sinise currently stars in "CSI: NY" on CBS.

He was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Lt. Dan Taylor in "Forrest Gump" and he won Emmy Awards as Outstanding Male Actor in a movie or miniseries for portrayals of George Wallace and Harry Truman.

His 12-member band will play Thursday at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Friday at Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak and Saturday at Eielson Air Force Base outside Fairbanks.
