Animal encounters:

Sound off on the important issues at

• A woman reported a bear in the area of North Loop Way at 12:25 p.m Saturday.

• A bear was reported breaking into a garage in the 4000 block of Ridge Way at 10:38 a.m. Sunday. About five minutes later, another caller reported a bear in the 4500 block of Wood Duck Avenue.

• A bear was reported in the 4400 block of Poplar Avenue at 11:12 a.m. Sunday.

Traffic violations:

• A 25-year-old woman was cited for driving without a license on Glacier Highway at 6:15 p.m. Saturday. Her vehicle was impounded.

Lost property:

• At 10:06 a.m. Sunday, a woman reported a missing Dell laptop in a black leather case from the 1800 block of Shell Simmons Drive. The value of the laptop was not reported.

Vehicle rifling:

• At 10:18 a.m. Sunday, a Chevrolet Prism and a Chevrolet truck were reported to have been rilfed in the 3600 block of Tongass Boulevard. Nothing was taken.

• At 11:41 a.m. Sunday, a woman reported her unlocked Ford Escape was rifled in the 3300 block of Park Place. Nothing was taken.


• At 11:10 a.m. Sunday, a canvas bag containing swim gear, valued at $100, was reported stolen from a Chevy Blazer on Park Place.

• At 11:56 a.m. Sunday, a Jeep Wrangler was reported rifled in the 3500 block of Sierra Street. $10 cash was taken.
