Family child care providers earn national accreditation

Congratulations to Bertholl and Geary, of Juneau, and the Palmers, of Ketchikan

The Association for the Education of Young Children-Southeast Alaska (AEYC-SEA) is pleased to congratulate the following family child care programs which recently earned national accreditation through the National Association of Family Child Care. The National Association for Family Child Care is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality child care by strengthening the profession of family child care.

The accreditation process is a two-year journey that takes family child care practitioners through critical program enhancement and self-reflection activities.

The successful accredited programs are those that meet stringent program standards in the areas of Relationships, Environment, Developmental Learning Activities, Safety and Health, and Professional and Business Practices.

We congratulate: Krista Bertholl, of Mountains to Meadows Family Child Care in Juneau; Virginia Geary, of Grammy's Treasures Family Child Care in Juneau; and Gina and Brad Palmer, of Palmer Family Child Care in Ketchikan.

For more information on Family Child Care Accreditation, visit www.nafcc.org. For information on becoming an accredited child care program gives us a call at 789-1235. We offer support, training and technical assistance to child care providers as well as quality assured childcare referrals to parents throughout Southeast Alaska.
