Marjorie Garrison
Juneau resident Marge Cecelia (Osborne) Garrison died Sept. 11, 2008, at her home in Juneau. She was 70.
Born July 14, 1938, in Hoonah, she was an Eagle Thunderbird of the Shungukedi. He clan house was "The House Lowered From the Sun," and her name was Ge'Tljaa.
She graduated from Mount Edgecumbe High School in 1957. On Nov. 28, 1970, she married Richard Garrison. They were to celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary this year.
Between 1968 and 2003, she worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Social Security Administration, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Coast Guard and National Marine Fisheries. Salvation Army, Klukwan Inc. and the Bartlett Regional Hospital. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose Juneau Chapter 439 since 2004.
"Margie loved all those around her and will be dearly missed by all of her many friends and family," her family said.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorian Garrison Webster; brother, Paul Osborne; and parents, David and Ida Kadashan.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Garrison; sons, John A. Garrison and companion, Laura Harder, of Juneau, Ken Garrison and companion, LarHonda Vonda, of Juneau, Al Garrison and companion, Linda Jacobs, of Juneau, and Michael Garrison and wife, Rebecca, of Fort Hood, Texas; daughters, Lina I. Garrison, of Juneau, and Danielle Sepulveda and husband, Carlos, of Ketchikan; sisters, Lillian Austin, Anita Lafferty and Leona Williams and husband, Norman, all of Juneau; brother, Ben Bailey; grandchildren, William, Jeffrey, Christina, Daniel, Rosie Dawn, Brandon, Tyler and Ella Garrison, and Vance and Raymond Webster, of Juneau; and great-grandchildren, Hemi Vance Garrison and Lily Davidson, of Juneau.
Pallbearers were Edward Austin III, Willis Marvin, Wally Marvin, Reggie Marvin and Steve Austin.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Edger, Ken Lee, Dave Funaro, Jacob White Sr., Jerry White Sr., David Sheakley, Karl Greenwald Sr., and Frank O., Norman and Ronald Williams.
A memorial viewing was held Saturday at the Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary. Funeral services were held Sunday at Northern Light United Church, with graveside services and burial to follow at the Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary. A memorial service of her life was held Monday at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Home Care of Juneau.
