I have been an Alaska resident since 1959 - 30 of those years were spent in Juneau, five in Fairbanks and 13 in Wasilla, with two years "outside" in continuing education.
I wear an Obama button around town, and many tourists ask me about it. Most of them seem to feel that because I am a local, I would be pleased with the Republican choice for vice president.
I respond by telling what I know to be true: Barack Obama has real, comprehensive, workable plans for everything I am interested in, from improving the lives of women and children to ethics reform to ending the war in Iraq, to mention only a few, and he is able and willing to clearly articulate those plans in his own words.
