Foul play ruled out in August death

Posted: Wednesday, September 20, 2000

A man whose body was found in the Mendenhall Valley last month was apparently not the victim of a crime, according to local police.

"We are not investigating that further," said Lt. Ron Forneris of the Juneau Police Department. "There does not appear to be any foul play."

Brian Schultz, 35, was found dead about 6:30 a.m. Aug. 12 at the Thunder Mountain Trailer Park.

When a Capital City Fire & Rescue ambulance responded to a report of a man not breathing, emergency medical technicians transported Schultz to Bartlett Regional Hospital, where a physician declared him dead, firefighters said.

A press release from Sgt. Kevin Siska of investigations said today that "the cause of death is undetermined pending the results of a toxicology screen."
