NOATAK - An Oregon man missing while hunting along the Noatak River has been found safe.

Alaska State Troopers say Mike Knapp of Langlois, Ore., spent a night away from his camp.

Troopers took a call at 1 p.m. Saturday that Knapp had been missing since 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Troopers searched from the air along the northwest Alaska river while search and rescue team members from the village of Noatak conducted a ground search.

Knapp was found along the river bank. He told rescuers he had become disoriented Friday night.

He was reunited with his hunting party.
