Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Domestic violence:

• Police arrested a 42-year-old man on a domestic-violence assault charge at 1:45 p.m. Monday in the Douglas area. They lodged him at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

• Police arrested a 44-year-old man from Ketchikan on a charge of domestic-violence assault at 5:23 p.m. Monday downtown. They lodged him at the state prison.

Burglary:

• Police arrested 24-year-old Charles Clasby on a felony charge of first-degree burglary at 3:29 p.m. Monday in the 9100 block of Parkwood Drive in the Mendenhall Valley. They lodged him at the state prison and impounded the vehicle he was driving.

Theft:

• A small black purse with contents valued at $1,000 was reported stolen at 8:13 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Front Street. The purse was later recovered and nothing was reported missing.

• At 9:22 p.m. Monday, a purse containing $1,347 was reported stolen on Sept. 3, somewhere in Juneau.

Vehicle accidents:

• Police cited a 23-year-old woman at 4:39 p.m. Monday, on a charge of failing to maintain a safe distance in traffic after an accident at Mendenhall Loop Road and Mendenhall Mall Road. The woman was driving a 1999 Nissan that reportedly struck a 1990 Volkswagen driven by a 17-year-old boy. Damage was estimated at $2,000 to the Nissan and $1,000 to the Volkswagen.

• Police cited three drivers after a four-vehicle accident at 5:03 p.m. Monday on outbound Egan drive at Glacier Highway in the Jordan Creek area. A 20-year-old man driving a 1985 Ford pickup and a 19-year-old man driving a 1984 Honda Prelude were cited on charges of failing to maintain a safe distance in traffic. A 24-year-old woman driving a 1991 Toyota pickup was cited on a charge of driving without a license. A 2001 Honda Civic, driven by a 24-year-old woman sustained minor damage. Damage was estimated at $800 to the Ford, $7,000 to the Honda Prelude and $3,000 to the Toyota.

• Police verbally warned an 18-year-old man for allegedly following too closely in traffic after an accident at 5:32 p.m. Monday on Egan Drive at Glacier Highway in the Jordan Creek area. He was driving a 1991 Ford. The accident also involved a 1996 Dodge driven by a 38-year-old woman.

Hit and run:

• At 5:20 p.m. Monday, a Mazda Protégé was reported struck by an unknown vehicle in a parking lot in the 300 block of Willoughby Avenue downtown.

Animal encounters:

• A man reported to police at 1:27 p.m. Monday that he kicked a bear in the face after it got into his garbage near Gastineau Avenue. The bear reportedly ran into the woods. A bear also was reported getting into a garbage enclosure at 10:28 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Lemon Creek Road. Other bear sightings were reported Monday at 10:09 p.m. in the 3400 block of Glacier Highway in the Lemon Creek area, at 10:22 p.m. at Dixon Street and Calhoun Avenue near the Governor's Mansion and at 10:47 p.m. and in the 9100 block of James Boulevard in the valley.
