Thanks for helping at Girl Scout fundraiser

Sound off on the important issues at

Thanks to the contributions of many, the Tongass Alaska Girl Scout Council's fourth annual "S'more Salmon" dinner and silent dessert auction Sept. 8 was a big success. We are so grateful to everyone involved for their support of the Girl Scout program.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Alaska Travel Adventures, which has generously sponsored this event since its inception, and to Mike Windred for his unfailing assistance. Dave Brower and John Pugh did a great job as our dessert auctioneers, and the staff at the Gold Creek Salmon Bake were wonderful to work with. Thanks also go to Chris Burns at KINY radio, KTOO radio, the Juneau Empire, and the Capital City Weekly for helping publicize our event.

Of course, we couldn't have had a dessert auction without the delectable and delicious creations of some of Juneau's finest chefs. Thank you to the restaurants and individuals who baked fantastic desserts for us: Capital City Fire/Rescue-Juneau Station, the Hangar on the Wharf, the Baranof Hotel, Wild Spice, Gregg Erickson, Amy Green, Senator Kim & Marylou Elton, Dave Brower, Debbie Germain, Andy Peterson, Pat McLear, Mary Miller, Representative Bruce Weyhrauch, Debra Schorr, Becca Smith, Teresa Newton, Kiana Ford-Junior Girl Scout Troop #14, Judy McAllister, Andy and Nancy Hemenway, Camille Stephens, Susan Cox, Mary Siroky, Janell Hafner, Chris Poag, Candy Brower, Gail Ford, and Heidi Hildebrandt.

Thanks are also due to CEO Gail Ford and Judy McAllister for staffing the ticket table, and to council office manager Teresa Newton for her work behind the scenes. Also to our dedicated Juneau board members - Mary Siroky (Secretary), Candy Brower, Margaret Pugh, and Janell Hafner - who planned and executed this fun-filled event. These special people, along with our many other volunteers, are committed to ensuring that the Girl Scout program in Southeast Alaska continues to help girls develop the values, self-confidence, and leadership skills needed to make sound decisions about their lives and the issues affecting all of us.

Last but certainly not least, we want to thank everyone who attended the event and generously supported our dessert auction fundraiser. You truly are making a difference in girls' lives.
