FAIRBANKS - About 7,000 pounds of paper, cardboard and aluminum have been collected in the first two weeks of operation of the recycling center at the Fairbanks Rescue Mission.
On Tuesday the first two truckloads head to Anchorage for processing.
In addition to saving the landfill, The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports the recycling operation serves as a training program for mission clients and helps them pay for room and board.
