The 21st annual Barn Dance season kicks off this Saturday, Sept. 25, with a special event featuring two bands and two callers. The dance will be held at St. Ann's Parish Hall, 5th and Gold streets downtown.
Jim Grammel will teach and call contra dances to the music of Jerry Fiscus and Friends to start the evening at 7:30 pm. Later, Tom Paul will call to music by Happy to Be Here.
No partners or previous experience dancing contras are necessary. Cost is 8$ for adults, $7 for members of the sponsoring groups, Alaska Folk Festival or Juneau International Folkdancers. Students and Seniors $5. SAGA and JVs are free.
