KETCHIKAN - Ketchikan police acting on a tip from the U.S. Postal Service inspector's office in Anchorage seized 20 pounds of marijuana and three pounds of suspected hallucinogenic mushrooms from an apartment.

Arrest warrants were issued for the apartment's two residents.

Ketchikan Police Chief Ed Talik says the postal inspector told police that 2 pounds of marijuana had been mailed to the apartment.

Officers obtained a warrant Friday and found additional drugs, scales, packaging material and a .45-caliber handgun.

Talik tells the Ketchikan Daily News that the street value of the marijuana is $227,000 and the mushrooms about $20,000. He says police found evidence to suggest an ongoing criminal enterprise.
