I am writing in support of Dixie Hood for the district 2 Juneau Assembly seat. The district 2 race this year poses a problem because all three candidates are well qualified. I'm voting for Dixie because she has truly "paid her dues" in Juneau. Dixie has lived in Juneau for 26 years, she owns a business here and has been involved in a variety of community groups. Dixie has served with the League of Women Voters, the Mendenhall Refuge Citizen Advisory Group and Juneau Empire Citizen Editorial Advisory Board; she was appointed by the governor to the State Board of Marital and Family Therapy, and was honored as Citizen Activist of the Year 2001.
Dixie has also been a strong advocate for civil rights, supporting the rights of disenfranchised Americans. Dixie acts on principle and is not afraid to take a stand on an issue. How refreshing in a candidate! Please join me on Oct. 2 and cast your vote for Dixie Hood.
