2 churches: Back off 'Day of Silence'

I feel sad and disappointed in Chapel by the Lake's decision to withdraw support for the JDHS Day of Silence. I do not believe that homosexuality is always a choice or "lifestyle." Some people are born gay. Some people are born heterosexual.

What our community can best offer our children is acceptance of who they are.

High school students are already navigating their way through a sexually charged and sometimes hostile culture filled with double standards, rigid sex roles, and intolerance. Let us help them all find healthy ways to be their true selves in a supportive environment. I believe that is what God would want us to do.
