Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

• Richard Knauss, 40, was arrested for drunken driving at 12:39 a.m. today near Mendenhall Loop Road. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• Police arrested a man, 28, on two counts of domestic violence assault at 11:38 a.m. Monday in the Mendenhall Valley area. The man was lodged at the state prison.

• A woman, 22, was arrested for domestic violence assault at 11:45 p.m. Monday in the Lemon Creek area. She also had three outstanding Ketchikan Alaska State Trooper warrants for failure to appear at hearings related to charges that include driving without a valid driver's license, two counts of fourth-degree assault, and violating conditions of her release, all misdemeanors. Police believe alcohol was a factor in Monday's incident. She was lodged at the state prison.


• A case of CDs and miscellaneous hand tools were reported stolen at 9:58 a.m. Monday from a 1988 Porsche parked near Taku Boulevard.

• A case with CDs, a flashlight and a Leatherman tool were reported stolen at 10:14 a.m. Monday from a Toyota Tercel near Turn Street.

• A Panasonic cordless handset, a CD case, 10 CDs and a flashlight were reported stolen at 11:29 a.m. Monday from a vehicle near Point Louisa Road.

• A red bike was reported stolen at 4:08 p.m. Monday from a fenced yard near Threadneedle Street.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

• The pitcher's mound and home plate of a baseball field were reported dug up with a Polasky tool, an implement used in trail digging, at 10:25 a.m. Monday near Mendenhall Loop Road. The tool was left at the scene.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Monday at 9:50 a.m. near Snipe Street, 6:40 p.m. near Second Street in Douglas, 11:04 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, 11:04 p.m. near Behrends Avenue, 11:11 p.m. near Coogan Drive, 11:31 p.m. near North Franklin Street and 11:56 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek.


• Police arrested a woman, 28, for disorderly conduct at 7:22 a.m. Monday near Glacier Highway. Police believe this was a domestic violence incident and that alcohol was a factor. She was lodged at the state prison.
