REGION V CROSS-COUNTRY ALL-ACADEMIC AWARDS

Twenty-nine Southeast senior cross-country runners received All-Academic Awards at the ceremony following Saturday's Region V Championships, hosted by Juneau. The awards went to seniors who have maintained grade point averages of 3.0 or higher. This year's recipients were, by school:

Juneau-Douglas - Kendri Cesar, Greta Thibodeau

Craig - Troy Sharp, Bryan Westfall

Kake - Larry Jackson

Ketchikan - Amanda Hammermeister, Sean Maynard, Allison Neterer, Erin Nugent

Klawock - Danielle Sather, Yadira Ramirez

Metlakatla - Beau Croisant, Gilmore White

Mount Edgecumbe - Nekke Colbert, Joel Hunt, Matt Mercier, Jesstin Patterson, Cliff Shellabarger

Petersburg - Brendan Goodwin, Casey Knight, Autumn Streuli

Sitka - Juliet Agne, J.J. Carlson, Megan Lehman

Skagway - Thomas Knorr

Wrangell - Kristy Brown, Brook Williams, Gregg Wilson

Yakutat - Scott Gray

POST-MEET FUN RUN

After Saturday's Region V Championships, several Juneau-Douglas High School junior varsity runners - along with coach Guy Thibodeau and JDHS alum Shawn Miller - ran the same 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) course as the varsity runners used earlier in the day.

1. Shawn Miller, 16 minutes, 27.98 seconds; 2. Guy Thibodeau, 18:14.28; 3. Brian Smith, 18:20.62; 4. Greg Frank, 18:53.89; 5. Justin Jones, 19:04.07; 6. Grant Zwingelberg, 19:05.32; 7. Will Horton, 19:40.61; 8. Tim Peterson, 19:41.27; 9. Theo Kennedy, 20:19.89; 10. Tom Meiners, 22:12.78; 11. Gwenn Miller, 23:53.35; 12. Gabrielle Vance, 26:34.96.
