KETCHIKAN - A 41-year-old Ketchikan man will serve time in a federal prison for illegally possessing firearms.

Michael McLoon was sentenced to 46 months by a U.S. District Court judge in Anchorage.

Prosecutors said Ketchikan police found several firearms when they responded to a disturbance at his home last November.

Officials said McLoon is prohibited from having firearms or ammunition because of several prior felonies.

He will be transferred to the federal system following completion of a state prison sentence. Prosecutors said he was convicted of assault committed with one of the illegal firearms.
