Juneau lawyer becomes Russian arbitrator: Juneau attorney William G. Ruddy, a senior partner in the Juneau firm Ruddy, Bradley, Kolkhorst & Reges, has been appointed arbitrator for the Far East Arbitration Tribunal for Foreign Trade and Other Economic Disputes and the Marine Arbitration Commission.

The Union of Russian Jurists, in Vladivostok, Russian Far East, appointed Ruddy earlier this month to both tribunals, which were created to arbitrate disputes arising in the context of foreign trade or maritime matters in the Russian Far East.

Ruddy, who is also with the Russian Far East law firm Russin and Vecchi, is the president of the Alaska-Siberia Research Center, which is involved in promoting greater understanding between Alaska and Siberia through scholarship, research and publications.

Three new hires at CPA firm: Elgee, Rehfeld, Funk Certified Public Accountants recently welcomed three new members to its firm.

Dawn Tucker is the firm's new office administrator. Tucker has a background in bookkeeping and worked the last two seasons for the Mount Roberts Tramway as a guest services manager. She also was a manager at Eaglecrest.

The firm also hired Josie Williams as an office administrator. She is a graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology in Phoenix, Ariz. She came to the firm after working for the state. Additionally, she used to work as a collector for the General Motors Acceptance Association.

Brian Prellwitz is the company's new QuickBooks Pro advisor. He is a graduate of Concordia College in St. Paul, Minn., and was previously employed with Logan General Tax Practice for two years. He also has experience doing tax preparation in Minnesota.

White Pass wins shore award in Skagway: The White Pass & Yukon Route was named Princess Tours Skagway shore excursion of the season.

The award is based on feedback from cruise ship passengers about the tour they liked the most.

The WP&YR was built between 1898 and 1900, connecting Alaska to Canada and served as a link between Skagway and the Yukon. Its train tours are one of the most popular excursions out of Skagway.
