2 churches: Back off 'Day of Silence'

I was very disturbed to read in the Empire that certain church leaders are trying to take away from high school students their right to stage a Day of Silence as a way of speaking out against the mistreatment of homosexuals. The attitude of those who signed the letters to school administrators confirms why we need a Day of Silence.

Every individual has the right to be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. The school district should not interfere with students who have shown the wisdom and maturity to stand up for what is right.
