Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• Police arrested a man, 40, on two counts of assault at 3:31 p.m. Tuesday near Pocket Park. Police believe alcohol was a factor. The man was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• Medication was reported stolen at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday from South Franklin Street. The medication was stolen over the weekend.

• A cell phone was reported stolen at 5:58 p.m. Tuesday from an unlocked vehicle on Glacier Highway. The theft happened at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

• A specialized Hardrock 18-speed mountain bike was reported stolen at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday near Ptarmigan Street.

Hit-and-run incidents:

• The left rear corner of a 1999 red Ford Escort was reported struck by an unknown vehicle at 2:48 p.m. Tuesday near Harbor Way.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Tuesday at 7:11 a.m. near Glacier Highway, 7:28 a.m. near Manor Avenue, 7:37 a.m. near Alaway Avenue, 7:46 a.m. near Threadneedle Street, 11:14 a.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, 12:09 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, 12:48 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, 3:57 p.m. near Bresee Street and 9:37 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek.

• Bears were reported today at 4:39 a.m. near Mendenhall Loop Road, 5:51 a.m. near Kanat'a Street and 6:28 a.m. near 12.5 mile Glacier Highway.
