I would like to thank my good friends and neighbors, Jim and Dor-e Demers, for their excellent response during a recent fire.
After noticing an electrical burning odor (it was in fact, a freak electrical failing), Dor-e investigated and found that the source was my storage unit. She called for Jim and 911.
According to the fire department, it was Jim's swift and knowledgeable response that contained the blaze and kept the attached homes from catching fire while the department was on its way.
Bravo, Jim! You saved the day for many of us.
A big thank you also goes to the men and women of the Douglas and Juneau fire departments, many of whom are volunteers.
Along with dousing the fire and thoroughly inspecting the interior, they were kind and very conscientious with my personal property.
To those mentioned above and to the many friends and neighbors who offered assistance, thank you for taking the sting out of a bad day.
May all your good works come back to you!
