• Midnight Suns Softball registration - Midnight Suns Softball will register kids 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Dimond Park Field House. $125. Details: John, 209-6272.

• Juneau Jumpers pre-tryout practices - From 3 to 5 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 21 and 28, at Glacier Valley Elementary School. Returning Juneau Jumpers and coaches will be available to assist during these practices. General information about team participation will also available. • Boo Hoo Bye Bye Barbecue - The Juneau Youth Football Leauge and Crimson Bears are holding a goodbye party for league president James Lockwood at 6 p.m. Monday at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. Thursday, Oct. 2

• Juneau-Douglas High School Dance Team tryouts - The Juneau-Douglas High School Dance Team will begin tryouts with its first training clinic at 7-9 p.m. Oct. 2 at Auke Bay Elementary School. Both JDHS and Thunder Mountain High School students eligible. Attend the first clinic for more information. Those interested in trying out are encouraged to attend as many training sessions as possible. Sessions are as follows: 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 4 at JDHS main gym; 7-9 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7 at TMHS main gym. • Adult Ordway Basketball Team registration - Juneau Parks and Recreation will register teams at 5 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Assembly Chambers. Late registration will be taken 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Parks and Rec Office. League play begins Nov. 9 and will run through the first week of February. ANNOUNCEMENTS

• Women's Classic Basketball League - The Women's Classic Basketball League is for women who enjoy basketball and want to play for fun, on an organized team, but with women who are a "little older," new to the game or have less time due to kids, jobs or other commitments. Aggressive play is strongly discouraged in this league.

Registration forms are due by Oct. 24. Pre-season practices will begin in November, followed by games which will be played through Feb. 4. Teams play once a week on Wednesday for a total of 10 games for the season. Cost is $47.25 per player, which includes tax and covers the costs of the player fee and a share of the team fee, plus use of a numbered jersey for each player. Players can register with Parks and Rec. Staff and volunteers will put teams together. Registration forms and information are available at the Parks and Rec Office, Room 218 of the Municipal Building. • JDHS turf field available - The turf field by Juneau-Douglas High School is available for community use. The charge for reserving the field is $5 per hour for nonprofit youth groups, $10 per hour for nonprofit adult groups and $15 per hour for all other groups. Individuals and groups are asked to keep food, drink, gum and animals off the field. Info: Community Schools at 523-1773.
