Business seminar focuses on Internet
Small Resources Business Online, a seminar for small business owners, will be presented from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Adult Education Center on Ferry Way. The workshop is an opportunity for business owners and those planning a business to explore Internet sites with start-up, marketing, financing, management and other business information.
Space is limited to 15 participants who will work online at their own computer terminals. The free seminar is co-sponsored by South East Regional Resource Center and Juneau Small Business Development Center. Call 463-3789 for more information.
Expo looks at business start-ups
Margaret O'Neal, director of Juneau Economic Development Council Southeast Alaska Revolving Loan Fund, will answer questions about starting a business or buying or expanding a business at Dream Expo 2000
O'Neal will also conduct two, one-hour workshops at the expo on Saturday and Sunday at Centennial Hall.

Workshops teach about business plans
The Juneau Economic Development Council and Juneau Small Business Development Center are offering a four-part workshop, "How to Write a Business Plan."
The workshop will be taught by Margaret O'Neal, director of the JEDC's Southeast Alaska Revolving Loan Fund; Deborah Marshall, director of InvestNet; and Jackie Stewart, business counselor of the Small Business Development Center.
Participants will write a business plan during the four-week course. Free private consultation will be available to class participants for refining and finalizing their business plan after the class ends. The course will cover the business planning process, the mission statement, management and legal structure, the marketing plan, the operations plan, debt and equity financing and preparation of pro-forma income, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
Classes will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at the JEDC offices, 612 W. Willoughby. The fee is $95 or $150 for two people from the same company. For more information and registration, call JEDC at 463-3662, fax 463-3939, or e-mail email@example.com.
Classes for professional cleaners
Hummingbird Services is sponsoring two classes: "Carpet Cleaning Technician" on Oct. 9, and "Fabric Cleaning Technician" on Oct. 11.
The classes, offered in Juneau for the first time, are approved by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, a non-profit organization that sets standards for the cleaning and restoration industry. At the end of each class, students will have the option of taking a test for certification by the institute.
