Services: The Nugget Alaskan Outfitter offers a complete line of work and outdoor clothing and footwear for hunting, boating, hiking, and commercial and sport fishing. The store carries such brand names as Helly Hansen, Columbia, Xtratuf, Carhartt, Birkenstock, Nike and Rockport. Additionally, the store offers glasses, gloves and hats. "We cover all the extremities," Ron Flint said.
Biographical information: Flint, 41, was born in 1958. "A territorial Alaskan by about six months," he said. He grew up in Juneau and graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1977. After attending Western State College in Gunnison, Colo.,,and getting his business degree in 1982, he returned to Juneau to work at what was then called the Nugget Department Store at the Nugget Mall, where the Gottschalks store is currently located. Flint's father, Bill, owned the store.
In 1987 it became the Nugget Men's Store and in 1989 it moved to its current location in the mall, switched its line to outdoor outfitting and changed its name to Nugget Alaskan Outfitter. In 1989 Ron became a minority owner. He was the assistant manager when his father died in 1990. In 1996 when his mother died, Ron inherited the family share and became a partner.
His father was also the old Behrends Department Store manager from 1958 to 1972.
Family: Flint has been married to his wife, Julie, for 14 years. They have two kids: Keath, 8, and Chelsea, 7.
Notable: Xtratufs, "the Juneau tennis shoe," remains his top-selling item. Carhartt and Columbia, he said, are his biggest selling lines.

Employees: about eight, including the critical Nancy Potts, Katy Petsel and Melanie Helmick.
"They've definitely given me consistency and made life around here more enjoyable," he said.
