Fund-raisers planned for Andrew Gibb, family
Several fund-raisers for Andrew Gibb, a Juneau resident who suffers from a rare blood disorder, are planned for upcoming weekends.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Nugget Mall, friends and family of Gibb will be collecting money to put towards Gibb's long-term health care.
A fund-raising ice skating event at the Treadwell Arena will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28. The ice skating event also will serve as a 15th birthday party for Gibb.
On Oct. 26, friends and family have planned a fund-raising dinner and auction at Chapel by the Lake from 5 to 8 p.m.
To contribute to a fund set up to help Andrew's parents, Cheryle and Doug Rice, and pay for health care costs, send donations to the Andrew Gibb Fund, c/o Wells Fargo Bank, Juneau, AK, 99801.

Juneau Adult Hockey looking for officials
The Juneau Adult Hockey Association is looking for individuals who would like to work as off-ice officials for evening games at the Treadwell Arena. Off-ice officials run the scoreboard and fill in the scoresheets during hockey games. Officials will be paid $10 a game.
No hockey experience is required, but interested individuals will have to attend a two-hour USA Hockey training session from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27. The training session will provide an introduction to hockey rules, penalties and how to operate the scoreboard.
Once certified, off-ice officials will be able to select the games they would like to work. To register for the training, please call 586-3232.
