• Juneau-Douglas High School football - The Crimson Bears (7-0) conclude the regular season with a game against Rainier, Ore., (4-0) at 8 p.m. Saturday at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Field.

MEETINGS / CLINICS / ANNOUNCEMENTS

• Treadwell Arena is open - Treadwell Arena is open seven days a week. Open skate, stick 'n puck and pond hockey sessions are available throughout the week. Skate under the disco ball on Saturday, Sept. 29 form 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hockey skills and drills still has room for more skaters and parent/tot skating lessons begin Oct. 8. • Juneau Douglas Ice Association youth hockey registration - The Juneau Douglas Ice Association youth hockey program is currently accepting registration for the upcoming season. To register, go to www.usahockey.com/juneaudouglasice to print the registration forms. You may mail them to to the address on the form. The JDIA is also accepting credit card payments at Play It Again Sports. Registration closes Sept. 19 on a space available basis. There will be an additional late fee for registrations filed after Sept. 19.

• Mt. Jumbo Preschool open gym - Open gym will be held for youth up to age 6 with an adult. Cost is $1 per child and punchcards are available at the gym. Gym is open Monday-Friday from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Toys, climbers, tricycles, building blocks, mats and balls will be provided. Info: Parks and Recreation, 586-5226, Myiia_Whistler@ci.juneau.ak.us.

• Mt. Jumbo gym rental - Gym is available for $27 per hour. Soccer goals, balls, preschool play equipment, mats and basketball court are all available for use. Info: Parks and Recreation, 586-5226, Myiia_Whistler@ci.juneau.ak.us.

• HoopTime youth basketball volunteers needed - HoopTime is recruiting for volunteers in all aspects of its program, including board members, coaches and coaches representatives. Your help is needed to keep this program for middle school students functioning. Info: Shelly Saviers, 790-2566 or 723-2730.

• Volunteer soccer coaches needed - Juneau Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteer coaches for the upcoming Indoor Soccer Program. The season will run from Sept. 29 to Dec. 15. Persons knowledgeable about soccer who enjoy working with youth are encouraged to call Parks and Rec or drop by the office for more information. • Start Smart Sports Development registration - Registration for Start Smart Sports Development classes are taking place now. The program is designed for children ages 4-5 and their parents. The program is one hour a week for six weeks. Participants receive a t-shirt and participation manual. Info: Parks and Rec, 586-5226, Myiia_Whistler@ci.juneau.ak.us.

• JDHS turf field available - The turf field by Juneau-Douglas High School is available for community use. The charge for reserving the field is $5 per hour for non-profit youth groups, $10 per hour for non-profit adult groups and $15 per hour for all other groups. Individuals and groups are asked to keep food, drink, gum and animals off the field. Info: Community Schools at 523-1773.
