School: Mendenhall River Community School.
Art of choice: Writing.
Reason: "I didn't really choose it. It was my second-grade teacher who told me to write, and then I really got into it. I thought it would be fun for me to do for the rest of my life. I like how I can express the way I think and the things I'm interested in. It's also kind of fun for me, that's what encourages me to write."
All in the family: "I'm not sure if my mom and dad like doing it, and I know my siblings don't, so I think I'm the only one."
Favorite artists: "Susan Fletcher, I like her because we like writing about the same things and her writing is interesting. I love music, any music but rap."
Future plans: "I probably will keep doing it, and I'm going to try to start writing chronicles and publish them. Hopefully a bunch of kids will like it. ... (I either want to) be something that involves music, acting or writing. I also want a family that looks just like my SIMS family. On my friend's SIMS game I made a family that we thought would be really nice to have."
Activites: Skateboarding and skiing.
You should know: "I'm double-jointed. My hero is anyone who is involved with any art. I have a 16 year-old outside cat that is still alive. The vet thought he would die within a week but he lived two months after that, so I don't think he's going to die. His name is Frisky, like the food. I also really like video games, SIMS and games with celebrities!"
Excerpt from her story:
"AHHHHHHHH!" screamed a voice from the distance.
"5, 4, 3, 2," counted Sagra and Nioka when Lime flew in giggling with pleasure.
"And just what are you laughing about," demanded Sagra.
"You ... you sh-should have seen his face!" Lime tried to say between laughing and breathing.
Her teachers say: "Jennifer is an incredibly visual writer. She uses great words to paint a picture in the reader's mind. She is an artist with her words. Jennifer has a great sense of humor and fun style. She is always looking for ways to improve her writing and make it more visual. Her ideas are creative and unique."
